Welcome to Research Mentor

Welcome to Research Mentor, an AI-powered research mentorship platform operated by Authentic Research Partners ("we," "us," "our," "ARP," or "the Company"). These Terms of Service ("Terms," "ToS," or "Agreement") govern your access to and use of our platform, website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Platform" or "Service").

Important Notice: These Terms contain important information about your rights and obligations, including limitations on our liability and requirements for dispute resolution. Please read them carefully.

Quick Summary for Teen Users (Ages 13-17)

Hey there! 👋 We know legal documents can be long and confusing, so we've created this plain-language summary just for you. Here are the key things you need to know about using Research Mentor:

The Basics

  • You must be 13 or older: If you're under 13, you cannot use Research Mentor.
  • Parental consent (mostly not required): In most countries we serve, you can create an account without asking your parents first. However, if you're 13-15 in California, your parents need to approve certain features like public profiles. We encourage all teens to discuss using Research Mentor with their parents.
  • Your parents can get involved: Even if consent isn't required, parents and guardians can request to see your account information, download your data, or ask us to delete your account at any time.

What You Own

  • You own your research: The research projects, ideas, experiments, and writing you create on Research Mentor belong to you, not us.
  • We can't use your work without permission: We won't publish your research or share it with others (except your teachers/supervisors) without your consent.

About the AI Mentor

  • AI is a learning tool, not a shortcut: The AI mentor helps guide your research and answer questions, but it's not a replacement for doing the work yourself or learning from real teachers and mentors.
  • AI can make mistakes: The AI sometimes gives incorrect or incomplete information. Always verify important facts with reliable sources and check with your teacher or supervisor.
  • Don't cheat with AI: Using AI to write your entire research paper or do your work for you is plagiarism and violates academic integrity rules. Always disclose when you've used AI assistance in your work.

Your Responsibilities

  • Be honest: Don't plagiarize, don't copy other people's work, and cite your sources properly.
  • Be respectful: Treat other users, teachers, and supervisors with respect. No bullying, harassment, or hate speech.
  • Stay safe: Don't share your password, personal contact information, or home address publicly. Report anything that makes you uncomfortable to safety@arpconnect.com.
  • Follow the rules: Follow your school's rules about AI use, research ethics, and online behavior.

Privacy and Data

  • Your data is protected: We follow strict privacy laws (like GDPR in Europe, CCPA in California, and FERPA for schools) to keep your information safe.
  • We don't sell your data: We will never sell your personal information or research to advertisers or third parties.
  • Your conversations are stored: We save your AI chat history so you can review past conversations, but you can request to delete them anytime.
  • Check the full Privacy Policy: For complete details about what data we collect and how we use it, read our Privacy Policy.

Important Limits

  • We're not responsible for your research outcomes: Using Research Mentor doesn't guarantee you'll win competitions, get good grades, or have successful research results. That's up to your effort and skills.
  • We're not liable for AI mistakes: If the AI gives you bad advice or incorrect information that affects your research, we're not responsible for those consequences.
  • The platform may have issues: Sometimes the website might be down, features might not work, or you might lose access. We try to prevent this, but we can't guarantee perfect uptime.

If Things Go Wrong

  • Contact us first: If you have a problem or complaint, email us at support@arpconnect.com and we'll try to fix it.
  • Your parents can help: If you're under 18, your parents can contact us on your behalf about any issues.
  • Safety concerns: If something dangerous or inappropriate happens, report it immediately to safety@arpconnect.com.

This is just a summary! The full legal terms below contain all the details and are the official agreement. We encourage you to read through them (or ask your parents to help you understand them). If you have questions, we're here to help at support@arpconnect.com.
